Extended metaphor

Definition-refers to a comparison between two unlike things that continues throughout a series of sentences in a paragraph or lines in a poem. It is often comprised of more than one sentence and sometimes consists of a full paragraph.

Example-In Imagine dragons' "demons". Dan Reynolds the lead singer compares people to darkness

-When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It’s where my demons hide(x2)
Don’t get too close
It’s dark inside
It’s where my demons hide(x2)

- it has symbolism because of the dark times he talks about. It has a hyperbole because I don't think there's such things as demons. Also a figurative speech. He talks about how people have dark times and he says that even I look normal
On the outside, I'm still as bad as everyone else. When he says "don't get to close, it's dark inside " I think that means you're more innocent than I am.
